Swagbucks Review Intro
In this article, I’ll answer the question, “is Swagbucks legit”, and show you the various methods of making money on Swagbucks, and the best strategies I’ve found to get the most money out of your time.
I recommend you take some time to read this guide in its entirety. There’s a good deal of information for you to digest and it’s important you understand how to maximize your earning potential before diving in aimlessly. You want to make the most from your time.
I’ll add that I’ve found that a lot of people don’t maximize their earnings and are leaving money on the table. So whether your’re a complete newbie to earning money online or someone who has been using Swagbucks already, I feel confident that this guide has tips that can help everybody.
Before we dive straight into the goods, let’s go over some restrictions and general information to make sure you can use Swagbucks and understand it.
Here are the current restrictions and rules:
- Location: Swagbucks is available in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, and Australia
- Age: Swagbucks members have to be 13 years or older
Sign Up Process: Signing up for Swagbucks is extremely simple. Click this link, fill out the information or join through Facebook, then confirm your email. You’re ready to start earning Swagbucks right away and it costs nothing to join.
If you want to double the points you’re started off with, take a look at my other article – How to get more get more Swagbucks when signing up.
Minimum Payout: The minimum payout depends on how you would like to redeem your Swagbucks. There are plenty of rewards, but the most popular payouts are Amazon gift cards or Paypal.
With Amazon gift cards, it is best to cash out every $5 dollars. There are higher cash out options but there’s little to no incentive to wait. I’m a firm believer in quick liquidity and want my earnings as soon as possible. I want to avoid any possibility that I won’t receive them for whatever reason.
For Paypal, the minimum pay out is at $25. I typically cash in towards Amazon as I like to get my rewards quick. Here’s a quick look at my order history; as you can see I like Amazon.
Ways to Earn Money: Swagbucks is one of the most versatile earning sites I’ve ever seen and they have multiple ways of earning money. I’ve listed all the ways you can earn, but below that I’ve shared which one’s I’ve found to be the best.
- Shop or Donate through Swagbucks
- Use Swagbucks Search
- Watch Swagbucks TV
- Play Games
- Paid Surveys
- Daily Polls
- Complete Tasks
- Complete Offers ( Both paid and free)
- Print and use coupons from their site
- Install the Swagbucks toolbar
- Read Articles on Encrave
- Earn your daily goal of Swagbucks & Winning Streaks
- Get the Visa Swagbucks Credit Card
- Sign up for the Swagbucks Accelerator program
- Redeem Swagbuck Codes
There are also two mobile apps for Swagbucks for iOS and Android. One that has almost all the features of the website and allows you to earn Swagbucks on the go. The other is called Swagbucks TV and it’s the video service served through a mobile app. It’s a fantastic tool to earn extra Swagbucks through the day.
The Best Ways to Make Money with Swagbucks
Here’s the most valuable information for you to chew on. I’m going to share with you what I’ve found to be the best ways to use Swagbucks to earn the most money for your time invested.
First, make sure you sign up for Swagbucks. You’ll get a few points to start with once you open a new account. After you sign up, you can start earning points by registering for the features on the site. This will be the first page that comes up, so just continue filling everything out.
Once you are done registering for everything, you will be directed to fill out profile surveys. I highly recommend you complete this. This profiles will be used to qualify you for direct surveys. Stick to the truth, it’s easier to remember and the targeted surveys will be more meaningful to you.
Once you are all signed up and ready, you should now install the Swagbucks toolbar/extension for your browser. You will get 1 SB a day for just having it installed. It also gives you quick access to earning Swagbucks. Saving you time and increasing your earning potential.
I recommend that you make a habit of searching through the Swagbucks search bar. You may not always receive Swagbucks in return, but you lose nothing and gain the opportunity to win up to 20 Swagbucks with one search. I’ve found that on average a make a few Swagbucks, but I rarely hover around the 20 SB mark.
I don’t recommend focusing on searching. Instead, incorporate searching into your normal routine.
Daily Swagbucks Activities
Everyday you log on there is a new poll and No Obligations Special Offer(NOSO) for you to complete. The daily poll is straight forward and it takes no longer than a second to earn a SB. The questions are usually goofy and there’s no reason to read them. Click and Go.
For the NOSO, you will be shown a certain number of offers that you can either sign up for or skip. What’s great is that you don’t even need to answer any of the surveys. Skip through them all and you’ll earn 2 SB.
These small points will add up over time and the effort is minimal.
Swagbuck codes are one of the easiest ways to earn Swagbucks. If you have toolbar installed or the mobile app installed on your phone, you will get alerted every time a new Swagbuck code goes live and where to look to find them.
Typically the codes can be found on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. The code is typically in their latest post. You then just type it in the swagbucks code entry point ( either on swagbucks.com, the toolbar, or mobile app. And that’s it. You earned a few SBs a day with minimal effort.
Swagbucks has a video section to their offerings called Swagbucks TV. It’s also available as a mobile app, which I strongly recommend installing. Watching these videos can earn you up to 150 Swagbucks each day.
What’s great is that you can open Swagbucks TV in a separate tab, put it on mute and then do other stuff. Every once in a while check back to see if the video is still playing, but beyond that watching videos offers a fantastic return for the effort spent.
With the mobile app, I recommend that you connect it to a WiFi source and let SBTV run. I don’t recommend using it on your mobile plan as it will burn through your data and if you don’t have an unlimited data plan it’ll most likely end up costing you more than you will earn.
Swagbucks Offers is where you can make the most money. There a variety of offers, both paid and free to complete that give you the best return for your time. Typically, the paid offers have the best payout. Figure, if you sign up for something paid, Swagbucks earns more money, and it passes more money to you.
Now here is where a lot of people make a a mistake. It’s like the completely forgot the rules of economics.
Calculate how much you can earn. Each Swagbucks is worth about $.01 (a tiny bit more if you just get $5 Amazon gift cards).
Complete offers where you earn more money then you spend.
Swagbucks Paid Surveys
Paid Surveys from Swagbucks are available but I personally feel that Offers give you a better earnings.
f you filled out your Survey profile at the start, like I recommended, and it matches something that Swagbucks is interested in, you may find good, worthwhile paid surveys to take. They are also a good filler to use if you find it difficult to reach your daily goal.
Swagbuck Coupons is something that is worth taking a look at it. It’s an interesting opportunity to earn some SB. Here’s the best way to take advantage of them.
Next time before you go to the grocery store, pull out your shopping list and check if there are any coupons for items you need available. If there are, print the coupons out and take them with you. For every coupon you redeem, you’ll earn Swagbucks.
It’s simple and if you can incorporate it into your shopping routine it’ll add up over time.
Swagbucks Daily Goals and Winning Streaks
Here’s something many people miss. When you first sign up for Swagbucks, make sure you turn on daily goals in the left sidebar. This will not only give you a daily goal to shoot for but also reward you for reaching it. And if you hit multiple goals in a row, you’ll get additional SBs.
When you start, you’ll be expected to hit a starting goal of 30 Swagbucks daily. If you attain that goal, you will be given a new goal to hit, and an even bigger bonus if you can reach it.
Consistency is the name of the game. If you want to get the most out of Swagbucks it is critical to use it everyday. In fact, if you can average 50 Swagbucks everyday ; you will get the daily goal bonus and the winner streams. Partner that with the Swagbucks Accelerator, and you can earn an extra 2,215 Swagbucks as a monthly bonus.
If you’re serious about earning money online and plan on using Swagbucks often, this is a great way to boost your earnings. The Accelerator program allows you to maximize your SwagBucks earnings by matching a portion of your SwagBuck earnings.
However, I only recommend this if you are going to commit to using Swagbucks. Swagbucks is betting that you’ll sign up for the program and then not reach the point match up. If you use Swagbucks like I explain then it’s easy to reach the match to points of either 700 or 1,500 SB. This makes taking advantage of the Accelerator a no brainer.
This is fairly straightforward. If you are looking to buy something line, check the Swagbucks store first. If you can buy something and get extra Swagbucks from it there is no reason not to do it.
Swagbucks Mobile is something you can incorporate into your daily routine when you are not at your computer. It’s an easy way to reach your daily goal and has almost all the features that the website has. Swagbucks has also been building up the app to get it better. It’s been improving over time and I believe it will continue to do so.
Don’t forget that Swagbucks TV is also available in a separate app.
If you look under the Answer tab of the drop menu you’ll find Swagbuck Tasks. I don’t recommend spending too much time here but every one in a while there is a low piece of hanging fruit to complete.
There a few tasks that have good returns for the the time invested. These typically hover around 1-3 Swagbucks.
Swagbuck Activities Not to Spend Time On
Although Swagbucks offers a variety of ways to earn SB points, I’ve found that the following activities aren’t the best use of your time.
Although Swagbuck Play can entice you with earning quite a lot of points if you can rank up the leader board on average your Swagbuck generation will hover on the lower end.
You have the option to play free games, which can net you a few Swagbucks. But the time spent on the game for a return of 2 or 3 Swagbucks is not a good return. Unless you actually enjoy playing the game.
Swagbucks also offers the opportunity to participate in what they call tournaments. You have to pay an entry fee to join in. What I don’t like is that you have no idea who you are playing against, and you risk losing Swagbucks as a result.
And the risk to potential gain ratio is poor. You can pay a 15 SB entry and even if you get the 1st place position, you will only net 5 SB for your time.
Swagbucks Encrave rewards you with Swagbucks for reading various articles and watching certain videos. I’ve found that the articles are okay, but nothing too interesting. The potential earnings are low too. I find that it is much better to spend your time filling our offers or completing higher paying surveys than to dabble with Encrave.
That said, if you need a few Swagbucks to reach your daily goal, this may be a good filler.
Swagbucks Credit Card
The idea is simple. You get a Swagbucks VISA Rewards Card that earns you 1.25 Swagbucks for every dollar you spend on any purchase. So if you were to spend $400 monthly on groceries and bills with your card you would net 500 Swagbuck points.
It’s not a bad idea, and I haven’t see any other reward sites offer anything similar. That said, when you’re converting Swagbucks to cash, your rewards are not as high as what other credit card companies are offering.
I always look at reward companies as digital casinos. They have a variety of ways you can earn money, but some of which are gamed to earn the house (the casino) the returns.
The Sweepstakes are a way for you to give up your hard earned Swagbuck points for a chance to win big. But here’s the thing. While it is possible for you to win, it’s highly unlikely.
So why give up points on something with a low return? In fact let’s take a deeper look.
At 10 SB per entry you are looking at paying about $0.10 per entry. If you get 1 entry, your chance of winning is .7%. Let’s say you buy half of the entries; you would spend 675 Swagbucks to have a 50% of winning a $10 Amazon Gift Card that you can pick up from the Rewards store at 1,000 Swagbuck points. The risk isn’t worth it – you are risking losing about $6.75 to earn $10.
I completely recommend Swagbucks. It’s one of my favorite sites to make money with. It’s a large site that has been around for years so there’s no need to worry it will go belly up.
I like that there are many ways to earn money, that there are various payout types, that the mobile app works well and actually nets me points, and that the overall returns are high.
Don’t forget to take a look at how you can double your sign up bonus here.
Should I Join Swagbucks?
Yes. It’s a no brainer.
